Shakuntla Sharma, who was born on April 15, 1928, and passed away on August 15, 2025, is being remembered by her family as a devoted soul who lived a life grounded in dharma, kindness, and service to others. Her family described her as their "Maji" and noted that she was preceded in death by her husband Ramesh. The tribute created for her reflects the deep spiritual and familial values central to South Asian tradition. Carolyn grew up in North Dakota before moving to Rochester, Michigan in 1951, where she graduated from Rochester Senior High School and later raised her family. Her faith was a cornerstone of her life, with active membership in Lutheran churches across Michigan and Texas over the decades. Mary Patricia Eckhout of Cheboygan, Michigan, passed away on October 24, 2025, at the age of 95, and is survived by her son Frederick J. Eckhout of Troy, Michigan, among other children and grandchildren. Born in Toledo, Ohio, in 1929, Mary grew up in Birmingham, Michigan, and attended Michigan State University, where she was a member of the Gamma Phi Sorority. She was deeply involved in community service throughout her life, including long-term work as a literacy tutor. A memorial service officiated by the Rev. Pat Maher was held at the Indian River Catholic Shrine, with burial following at Burt-Mullett Township Cemetery. [6]
