Coppell Desi Entrepreneurs Bring the Flavors of India to North Texas Tables
For Coppell's South Asian community, food is both comfort and culture — and this season brings two delicious reasons to celebrate, as local entrepreneurs make authentic Indian flavors more accessible than ever across North Texas.
🍽️ Silk Road: A Grand Indian Restaurant Coming to Coppell
The team behind Savvy, a well-regarded Dallas hospitality group, is set to open Silk Road, a large-scale Indian restaurant in Coppell. The concept promises an expansive dining experience rooted in the rich culinary traditions of the Indian subcontinent. For Coppell's sizeable Desi population, the arrival of a serious, full-service Indian restaurant in their own backyard is a welcome development. The restaurant reflects the growing demand for elevated Indian dining in the North Texas suburbs. [2]
🫙 Mohanas Food: A Coppell Mom's Curry Base Goes Regional
Coppell resident Kannamma Balasubramanian launched Mohanas Food with a simple but powerful idea — a thokku Indian curry base versatile enough to form the foundation of more than 50 different dishes. The inspiration was deeply personal: one of her sons, away at college, missed her cooking but found traditional Indian recipes too complex and spice-intensive to replicate on his own. Balasubramanian developed the ready-to-use base so he could recreate her flavors quickly and without extensive preparation. Having refined the product over the past three to four years, she is now expanding delivery of Mohanas Food across North Texas. [3]
